Frequently Asked Questions

You call ourselves a Pop Up Art Studio – but what does that mean?

We don’t have our own venue (yet!) so we Pop Up our Art Studio in bars, cafes, restaurants and other partner venues. Painty brings people together for a fun night of drinks and a simple guided tutorial by a professional artist on how to recreate a work of art. It’s a great night out, and a unique idea for a date! Our events cater to those who have little to no painting experience, so there’s no reason for anyone to be shy!

Do I need to bring anything with me?

We provide everything you’ll need: canvas, table top easel, paints, brushes, water cup, paper palette, a box of old shirts as aprons (disposable aprons available for those who prefer them), and instruction. You just need to show up (and maybe bring a few friends!).

Can I come alone, on my own, all by myself?

Yes! You will meet new people and have a great time, no matter if you come alone or bring all your friends!

If I come with a group of friends, can we all sit together?

Just let us know how many of you there when you check in and we’ll do our best to accommodate you!

I’d like to book you for a private event, is that possible?

Yes!  We can help you out with all sorts of events: corporate, teambuilding, children’s parties etc. We can accommodate almost any gathering. We know your event will be memorable and your participants will walk home with a unique memento of the day!  We can also use our excellent network of contacts to help you with venues and catering – just get in touch to discuss specifics.

I’ve never painted before! I can’t paint. Will that be a problem?

Painty is about fun and creativity, no matter what level of skill you’re at. You don’t need any art experience to enjoy painting with us. We run social painting experiences, not art classes, and many of our customers haven’t painted since school! This is painting for fun – light on instruction heavy on the laughs! The event’s non-judgemental lead artist will guide you through the entire painting process step-by-step. You’ll be amazed at what you can achieve. You’ll leave with a finished piece of art that you created yourself!

Is food and drink included in the price?
Refreshments and food are not always included. Events are held at different venues and each is unique. Please take note of each specific event and what is or is not included.

Do I need to book/pay in advance?
Yes, advance payment is required because of limited places. We also need to make sure we have all the supplies we need, and that our venues are properly prepared for us. We often sell out so don’t wait until it’s too late to sign up!

How do I book for an event?
To book a place, simply go to the event’s page, click on the event you’d like to attend and press the ‘I’m attending’ button, If you’re not already registered on the website – you’ll need to register. Once you’re all registered you’ll be at the booking form where you can choose the number of tickets you wish to purchase – then click the ‘pay now’ button to pay securely via PayPal.

What type of paint do you use?
We use acrylic paints which are non-toxic and water soluble. They dry quickly so your painting is likely to be dry by the time you are ready to leave.

What should I wear?
We provide aprons, but you may want to wear something you don’t mind getting a bit of paint on– just to play it safe.  Although we use water based acrylic paint, when it dries it is unlikely to come out! Painty will not reimburse for dry cleaning or replacement of clothing.

What time do I need to arrive for a session?
Plan on arriving about half an hour before the event to allow time to sign in, find a seat and grab a drink!  Instruction will start promptly and the event will run for about 2 hours.

Where will I find the photos from the event I attended?
We post photos on our website, onto our Facebook page, via Twitter and Instagram. We’d love to see your pictures too! Make sure to mention us in your posts and tag us.
